Population in 1860 Census – 12,051
Population in 1870 Census – 15,054
Jerseyville is the County Seat

Records were abstracted by fractions but some abbreviations were not understood. In some cases there are two Record ID’s for a person or persons, but the parts description is the same. These are “purchasers” of land, not necessarily residents of Jersey County, though there are familiar names in these Early Land Patents.
